Lexical Item Difficulty

Item difficulty can be manually assigned or tracked automatically. Five vertical bars make up the difficulty gauge, which is shown in the lower right-hand corner of the main window when viewing a particular item. Green vertical bars of gradually stronger intensity mean an easier degree of difficulty while red bars indicate a higher degree of difficulty. If all the bars are gray then the item does not yet have a difficulty rating.

To manually change an item's difficulty rating you must be in edit mode. Clicking a vertical bar with the left mouse button will turn it to red along with and all the bars to the left. Using the right button will change the bars to green. Alternatively, double clicking the Difficulty label resets the difficulty rating causing all bars to revert to gray.

However, it's usually preferred to let the program track item difficulty itself. This is done as you answer test questions correctly or incorrectly.
