BTW, if you registered for the forum before the site update then you’ll probably need to reset your password. The previous passwords needed to be randomized due to the fact that they were not in plain text (a good thing) and could not be moved to the new forum database. If this is the case for you then simply click the Lost Password link and enter the email address that you used to register.
Thanks!
ZanderKeymasterHi Pat. Yes, the iPhone version is a bit behind schedule, but is being worked on diligently. It’s taking some extra time because I’m trying to make it the best experience I can for users even at the cost of a later release date. Also, while the iPhone version won’t have all the lexicon configuration features of the desktop version, it will come with a couple new features that I think will be worth the wait. I hesitate to give a specific release date at the moment, but it should be available in a March-April timeframe. I do my best to keep you posted.
Regards,
Zander
ZanderKeymasterThe forums are now reopened for registrations!
ZanderKeymasterFyi, I’m working on a solution that will allow the forums to reopen for registrations. Might have sometime in a week or so.
ZanderKeymasterFulvio, I just sent you a newly generated license key.
ZanderKeymasterAll, the audio download service has been re-established and is once again working. Google discontinued its text to speech service, but I’ve managed to secure another provider. Not as many languages are available for download with the new service, but the quality is slightly better and there are fewer limitations. For example, Google limited audio to 100 characters of text but that limitation is now gone. The languages available with the new service are English, Spanish, Japanese, Portuguese, French, German, and Italian.

ZanderKeymasterHi Pat. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. It seems the Google service that audio downloads depends on has changed. I’m investigating if PL can still use Google or if I need to find an alternative. I’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, the audio download service has been disabled.

ZanderKeymasterHi. Thanks for the question. If you get this error message on Windows then Personal Lexicon installed fine, but the update process couldn’t locate the exe in order to automatically launch it after the installation. Still, it’s there. You just need to launch it manually from the Start menu.
Regards
ZanderKeymasterThis issue was fixed. The new version of PL works without the need to change the System Preferences.
ZanderKeymasterThanks for the information. I tried to reproduce the problem using a German lexicon. The German lexical template also has 3 genders, but I couldn’t see the behavior you described. The issue might be something particular to the Russian lexicon that you made. Could you send me your exported lexicon so I could try it with your data? Simply open the lexicon, go to the File menu and select Export. From here, make sure to export the full lexicon. After that, you can send me the export file at support@personal-lexicon.com. I’ll take a look at it and hopefully find a solution.
Thanks.
Alexander
ZanderKeymasterHello Elias. What do you mean that you “cannot change”? Are you saying that the dropdown menu doesn’t open or that the dropdown opens but after you select a different gender then it doesn’t update to the new gender?
Alexander
ZanderKeymasterFYI, version 2.1.1 is out and it allows you to change fonts via the Preferences dialog.
ZanderKeymasterHi Graham. I think you might want to use the multiple choice test. With that you can prompt for the translation of either the english or the target language. As for hearing words and testing yourself on the english meaning, you can of course listen to any word you want outside of test mode. Perhaps you are suggesting a “review mode” for hearing the word and also seeing it in both english and the target language. Is that something you’d like to see in a future release?
regards,
Alexander
ZanderKeymasterHello. There will probably not be the ability to enlarge or change fonts in the the new version to be released this month, but another release is scheduled for January 2012 that will allow this. We’re keenly aware that the font size & selection should be something that users have control over. You can count on that being there for you soon.
Thanks for the question.
Alexander
ZanderKeymasterHi Patrick. Remember there are examples of dual-language lexicons in the Community section of the site. Hopefully, we’ll have more such lexicons as time goes on. Are you inquiring about lexicon structure? I made the English-Spanish lexicon in the community section and might be able to help with regards to setting up your lexicon.
